Choke chain training collars can be detrimental to a dogs behavior. Physical punishment in training may achieve short term results, punishment simply creates avoidance and does not address the root cause of the problem, nor does it teach alternative behavior. Physical punishment comes with a high risk of damage to the dog’s temperament, physical, emotional and/or psychological well-being, and as result is unacceptable.

Choke chain collars have been known to cause fear, submission, aggression, stress, depression and avoidance behaviors.
Improper use of the choke chain is seldom effective in changing unwanted behavior. The anxiety caused by the correction can increase aggressive behavior, the severity and frequency of aggressive episodes.
